DAVE
KELLETT
Dave is a Southern-California
native who grew up reading Bloom County, The Far Side, and Calvin & Hobbes.
His early grade school cartoons were hailed by the lunch lady as "bold,
innovative creations from a boy with his finger up his nose".
Nominated for the Rhodes Scholarship by the University of Notre Dame,
Dave went on to blow his 6-panelist interview by knowing absolutely
nothing about tsarist Russia's military funding...a question
he really rather wishes they hadn't asked.
Instead, he took a far happier stroll through higher academia, earning
two Masters degrees in the art and history of cartooning: First, at
the University
of California San Diego; and then, on a Rotary Foundation Scholarship,
at the University
of Kent, England at their Centre
for Cartoon and Caricature Studies. He preferred the one in England,
as the beer was better.
For 8 years, Dave worked as a writer and toy designer at Mattel Toys
(briefly helping to run their blue-sky "Project Platypus" creativity
project). Now, Dave lives with his wonderfully talented wife Gloria in
Los Angeles, creating Sheldon
for hip folks like yourself.
He watches far too
much "Battlestar Galactica", which is, c'mon...the best show
on television.
