It's true! It's a bio-chemical reaction that occurs when someone under 18 touches a book. Imagine acid as a solid! Harry Potter, of course, is a very different matter. The molecular make-up has a lower Ph level, so we can withstand the burn. Also, the Sheldon books don't seem to bother me for some reason...

Huh! My son knew where the books about trucks and fire engines were in the library and sought them out before he could walk.
I think you folks need to check whether you're providing the right books: Of course a six-year-old is going to balk at Moby Dick; but try Captain Underpants and suddenly you'll find yourself being barraged with requests for more and more books...
