2:30 AM Blogging? Must Be Good News.

In awesome news, my wife ended up winning the Alma Award tonight, for "Outstanding Writing for a Television Series"!

The best part? About two minutes before they announced the winner, I turned to her and said, "Oh, hey, did you write up a speech in case you win?" And she said "Oh heck no. I'm up against the Ugly Betty head writer."

And when she did win, and recovered from the shock of it, she then proceeded to give the funniest off-the-cuff acceptance speech I've ever heard. She's pretty awesome, that one.

Um, just 'cause I wanted to see Gloria's name in lights, I went to the Alma awards site, and they have the "ugly betty" writer winning...

Look at the top of that frame. It's the list of 2007 winners. They haven't posted the 2008 list yet.

I don't suppose you can point us towards a broadcast or video of this off-the-cuff speech? Preferably one where the camera pans back to teary-eyed Dave as Glo thanks him specifically.

Congrats to the talented Kellett household. May the success be long and prosperous.

Looking at the website, the awards show doesn't air until September 12th. That seems odd to delay the air date that long.

I guess 2:30 would imply good news. Hopefully you wouldn't post a blog to say "It's 2:30 AM. My house is on fire, so today's strip will be delayed."

That's beyond good news, though! I hope you'll make a point of referring to her as "my Alma Award-Winning Wife."

I think we're all also waiting to hear whether you actually met Edward James Olmos. After the infamous Comic-Con Avery Brooks footage, I'm hoping you'll have a good Admiral Adama story to tuck under your belt!

Dang, attractive, funny, and nationally renowned for her job? What a lucky husband! Also, an impromptu speech, do you (or she, rather) have any Imrpovisation background or something? Cause that's one of the hardest things I know of. Congrats!
