This one has been going on for a while, and I was positive that someone here would have brought it up...but a quick forum search turned up nothing. I wish I had posted about it sooner! Total fail on my part...

Long story short, William and Mary (college in Williamsburg, VA) is looking for a new school mascot, and of the five finalists, a pug is one of the options! Living near the Williamsburg area myself and having a soft spot in my heart for the always-underdog W&M Tribe, I guess I never posted 'cause...I mean, a pug? That's in the running for weidest Virginia college mascot with the Hokie.

But I had failed to see the possibilities! Oh, the possibilities! Where Sheldon fans the world around unite as one and escalate Oso and his kind to a most esteemed position indeed: the official mascot for a sports team! The teamwork! The comraderie! The curly-Q tails!

There's a link to a feedback survey on the page above. Since I waited so long to post, you only have about a week to vote. But maybe if the Sheldon family unites and votes for the Pug, it can pull out the upset!

...or, heck, vote for whatever you want, if you really don't like the pug. Not like Imma send the mafia in to break your legs if you vote for the wren or whatever. This week's Oso-related cartoons reminded me of the contest, and while I was pretty sure I saw something about it her eon the site, when I poked around I couldn't find anything. I figured it at least deserved a mention.
