Seattle! Thank you!

Thank you so much to all the Washingtonians, Oregonians, Canadians (…and the one Aussie!) who came out to this past weekend’s Emerald City Comicon in Seattle. It’s such a fantastic event, and I can’t wait for it every year. In fact, a huge “thank you” has to go out to Jim Demonakos and the entire ECCC crew for putting together one of the best comics shows going: You all do a wonderful, wonderful job.

And thank you to every Sheldonista (and tons of new Drive readers!) who came out to the show. You guys made the weekend for me. So many awesome conversations, so many nice gifts of Hobnobs, so many fun sketch requests. Below, you can see all the pics that readers sent me after the show, as well as some of the choicer sketches.

Thanks again!

Communicating

Gramps
talks about his wife, but it’s always hard to communicate those kinds of things.

Hugo Awards

After yesterday’s post about the nice io9 article, I got three separate e-mails from readers saying “…Hey! I nominated DRIVE for a Hugo Award.” Which kinda took me aback, as I didn’t even know DRIVE was eligible. But I just read the rules, and apparently it is!

So! If you’re eligible to nominate and vote in the Hugos, know that book one “DRIVE: A Hero Rises”, is eligible for the Best Graphic Story category.

Now, let’s be honest: You and I both know that Phil and Kaja Foglio of the brilliant Girl Genius will *win*. But it’d be neat just to sit next to them and breathe in their talented vapors. 🙂

…and thanks to those who nominated DRIVE, already! That was a real kindness for a cartoonist who didn’t even know how these things worked!

Thanks for the love, io9!

I just wanted to thank io9 and author Lauren Davis for their really, really nice write-up of DRIVE over the weekend. That was a nice, unexpected surprise!

Man! DRIVE gettin’ some love, lately! At Emerald City Comicon, the DRIVE books I brought along sold out by Saturday morning….and like 60% of the sketches folks asked for were from DRIVE, not from SHELDON. It’s weird! But nice. Thank you guys for the support.
